The President claimed last week that he “was not told directly” about the impending doom surrounding the healthcare.gov web site. Today, however, Bagdad Bob Carney told reporters that “the President received regular briefings on various aspects of implementing the ACA including recommendations from this (the McKinsey review) and the steps that CMS, HHS and others had taken to address those recommendations.” Mr. Carney is in a tough spot because he has to admit the President is a liar or an incompetent.
We know that both internal and independent external reviews identified fatal flaws. We know the President knew. The President apparently did not, however, know that “purchasing insurance, for a lot of folks, is complicated”. Well, yea, thanks to you it is! Substandard never looked so good.
Michael Beschloss, noted historian opined upon Mr. Obama’s election that he was “the smartest man ever to assume the office”; really? We seem to be lacking proof of that contention as Mr. Obama’s political world begins to crash in around him with approval ratings barely above 40% and on a downward slide. Mr. Obama may be up for least transparent or most effective liar or most disconnected but not smartest, we’ve simply got too much evidence to the contrary. It’s not just about ObamaCare anymore, ObamaCare is the precipitant whereby growing numbers of Americans are trying to decide if the President is a serial liar or grossly incompetent.
Mark Steyn, as always, had his own unique take on things last week. Says Mr. Steyn; “Ooooo-kay. So, if I follow correctly, the smartest president ever is not smart enough to ensure that his website works; he’s not smart enough to inquire of others as to whether his website works; he’s not smart enough to check that his website works before he goes out and tells people what a great website experience they’re in for. But he is smart enough to know that he’s not stupid enough to go around bragging about how well it works if he’d already been informed that it doesn’t work. So he’s smart enough to know that if he’d known what he didn’t know he’d know enough not to let it be known that he knew nothing”. Today’s revelation will, hopefully, lead Mr. Steyn to add a couple of sentences to his analysis.
Lying? NSA talking points changed over the weeks of review as additional facts came to the surface, the NSA story then changed; we’re not reading your e-mail, oops yes we are. Fast and Furious remains stonewalled. Benghazi occurred based on a video. The ‘low level’ folks at the Cincinnati IRS office were to blame for Tea Party targeting. The ACA would be a ‘jobs bill’; unemployment would fall in the wake of the Stimulus plan, the Syrian ‘red line’. With 1.2 million new jobless claims a month for months on end and an average of 150,000 new jobs the unemployment rate went down?
But wait, it gets worse. The NY Post has a source that claims the unemployment numbers that came out in advance of the election that saw the unemployment rate fall below 8% were manufactured. They have offered to provide their investigation to proper authorities.
Americans will soon begin to wonder if the President stole the 2012 election, based on his insistence that his lies were the truth. They will look back on the folks who questioned the President’s ‘facts’ and how aggressively those folks were demonized for doing so.
While in my experience Liberals never, ever give up, there may be some credence to Mr. Krauthammer’s insistence that our current circumstances could represent the fall of Liberalism for some time to come.
It’s always the cover up!
