This one is rich, too rich almost to have come from Hillary’s lips, but it did. This from AOL News:
SHENANDOAH, Iowa (AP) – Hillary Rodham Clinton ridiculed Democratic rival Barack Obama on Tuesday for his contention that living abroad as a child helped give him a better understanding of the foreign policy challenges facing the U.S.
“Voters will have to judge if living in a foreign country at the age of 10 prepares one to face the big, complex international challenges the next president will face,” Clinton said. “I think we need a president with more experience than that, someone the rest of the world knows, looks up to and has confidence in.”
Obama didn’t let that go without a response:
Obama’s retort: “I was wondering which world leader told her that we needed to invade Iraq.”
Clinton’s conclusion: “This campaign is getting kind of heated now. It’s getting a little more exciting and intense.”
Hillary’s first attack was good, but Obama sort of got her back, a little, I guess…
Either way, this is getting fun to report on since these two got in a little spat. Frankly, I’m betting Hillary’s campaign is a bit uneasy about Iowa. Think about it this way, what if there are other Democratic voters in New Hampshire and South Carolina who maybe aren’t 100% keen on another Clinton presidency? Maybe they think the other Democratic nominees are a bit too weak for the Republican candidate so their supporting Hillary with a “she can beat them” mentality. However, what happens if Obama eaks out a win in Iowa? Does that momentum carry into New Hampshire because the Hillary supporters who were previously hedging on her now see fit to support someone else since Iowa said it was ok? I guess it all depends just how strong her supporters really area.
I highly doubt that scenario will happen, Hillary will probably still win Iowa and easily take the nomination. I bet Obama’s recent surge has her campaign a little bit on edge though.
