Tom’s side of the story…..
B. HUSSEIN Obama will not wear his American Flag Pin, SO WHAT?
It is time for all of us to stop putting such stock in trivial items such as a pin and start looking at the bigger picture. Many Americans as well as politicians wear this pin everyday and hate the very thing it stands for. It is such a shame that a nation with unlimited potential, limits itself with its lack of respect for our mental capacity. If all we think of is a pin when the word patriotism is mentioned then we have fallen further off the cliff then I thought.
Patriotism is not measured by what we wear on our clothing but it is in us. I love my country and my flag more than most, however, since I do not wear a pin and never have, does that mean I’m not a patriot? I think Calvin Coolidge said it best, “Patriotism is easy to understand in America – it means looking out for yourself by looking out for your country.†That is the key; love your country as much as you love yourself.
If I fault B. HUSSEIN Obama in anything, it is his decision to make it a topic of conversation around the water cooler. By doing this he has assisted in the continuing demise of this country by the media as a result of having such a stupid topic as the headline in our news. Make no mistake about it; B. HUSSEIN Obama is not alone in this conspiracy to destroy our country. In the last week your Congress along with B. HUSSEIN Obama wanted to go after a radio talk show host for a comment that was made versus looking out for our country by securing boarders, cutting spending, or improving our Iraq situation.
Fellow Americans, I have two words for you, WAKE UP! Stop acting like sheep and fight for your country and get real Patriots back in Washington. In closing, I have to agree with Thomas Jefferson’s take on America when he said “My God! How little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy’. Fix it folks, before it is too late.
Ron’s side of the story….
I agree with Tom on his main point. WHO CARES! The fact that Barack Obama has chosen to discontinue wearing an American flag lapel pin is not very significant. So some may ask, “Why are you and Tom even commenting on it?†Because the mainstream media did first, that’s why! I first saw this on CNN and MSNBC last night and was blown away that this stupid NON-story made the headlines. With so much at stake in this election, the choice of whether or not to wear a lapel seems very trivial. For me as for many American’s my choice for President rests on his or her policy on the war in Iraq, not their choice of accessories. I agree with Tom that Obama making this a story by bringing it up over and over takes away from his image. It seemed to me that if this was his main point of concentration, then why isn’t his head in the game?
I like Barack Obama, I think he would make a decent president and he certainly isn’t as bad as some of the alternatives from both parties. After nearly 7 years under a Bush presidency, anyone would look better though. When it comes right down to it, I respect all the candidates, no matter what their party affiliation…but it’s time to get serious, it’s time to solve the real problems ailing this great country. Wondering why a candidate chooses to wear a lapel pin is like sitting in front of nonstop coverage of Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan and which tree or parked car they drove into and which Hollywood nightclub they flashed their giblets at. I JUST DON’T CARE!
Now let me finish by addressing Tom’s portion of this blog….I will address Tom directly:
Although I agree with your overall stance, why did you feel the need to call attention to Obama’s middle name (Hussein) every single time you referred to him? By doing this, you defeated your own point of view. You say you want real debate on real issues, but by drawing attention to something as trivial as Obama’s middle name, you are no better than Fox News or Rush Limbaugh and their ridiculous, petty and immature stance on his middle name when they first brought it up 4 months ago. Obama’s middle name has NOTHING TO DO with his ability to lead this country. Let’s stay on message and discuss and debate the stuff that matters.
