EPA angers environmentalists with Earth Day travel plans

There are few things as satisfying to watch from afar than when two liberal conglomerates step on each other’s causes. Today’s episode involves the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a group within the environmentalist lobby. The EPA has planned out an Earth Day-themed tour across the country this week with blatant disregard for the carbon footprint destruction they’ll be leaving in their wake. An environmental group, the Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER), has deemed the travel damaging and says it will do more harm than good for the cause environmental awareness and climate change.

“Frenetically jetting around the country appears to undercut [the] EPA’s message to ordinary Americans that they should conserve, consume less and reduce transportation pollution,” PEER Executive Director Jeff said in a statement.

The EPA announced last week that McCarthy would visit New York, Boston, Cleveland, Atlanta and Memphis to “participate in various events to…focus on responsible steps to cut carbon pollution to slow the effects of climate change.”

The tour kicked off on Monday with a visit to Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show,” where McCarthy touted President Obama’s climate action plan. The tour will end on Friday with a tour of sustainable energy projects in Tennessee, the EPA said.

Apparently, the EPA is entirely unaware of video conferencing. Continuing in this vein, PEER has been super critical of EPA administrator Gina McCarthy’s frequency in commuting back and forth from Boston to Washington, DC, rather than simply living in the District.

Ruch said McCarthy is a frequent air traveler and has been criticized for commuting frequently back to her home in Boston. An agency official told The Daily Caller earlier this month that McCarthy sometimes drives home to Boston on the weekends, but the official did not specify how many times or the vehicle she uses.

I’m fairly certain that this is the type of excessive, polar bear-hating behavior that the Obama Climate Change plan of action is supposed to be discouraging. Luckily, for Gina McCarthy’s sake, she’s a liberal-in-good-standing so if she has to fall on the carbon footprint sword to save the planet, that’s just acceptable collateral damage in the war on weather.

      Johnny Advocacy:

You are so right that this is a load of effluvium.

Has anyone else noticed that this year there didn’t seem to be the big celebratory sophistry and rhetoric that usually accompanies “Earth Day?” I don’t believe I saw one article concerning turning off all my lights in solidarity of saving the planet.

The left has a habit of declaring opponents of their views as being on “the wrong side of history”. When you are on the wrong side of history you aren’t just mistaken but an enemy of rational thinking and thus society. Your views are from another century and therefore will be treated as they were in another century. Through re-education camps, ostracizing or maybe as they did during the French Revloution. In any regard the “Debate is over.”

Below is a Gallop poll on the environment and how it has changed over the past few years.

      Upon further thought:

Concerning the left declaring the “Debate Is Over” and those opposed as being an enemy of the people. A little known fact is Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin’s birthday is April 22nd (1870). The same day as Earth Day is held every year.Hmmmm?
