The tragedy in Binghamton, NY

Having spent most of my growing up years in Binghamton along with attending college there, I’m deeply moved by what happened yesterday on Front Street at the American Civic Center. My husband (Nate) and I have driven by that building hundreds of times on our way to go shopping or downtown Binghamton. Nate also attended college in Binghamton so we’re just stunned at the violence which took place there yesterday.

Regardless of what you might think, this is terrorism and it has claimed the lives of people coming to this country to love it the way we do.

Some local reporting from WBNG-TV in Binghamton:

Join in prayer for the families and communities. I know it has personally affected me because we spent so much time in Binghamton and called it home, though we lived 40 miles away back in New York state.

So our hearts and prayers should be with those most affected by this shooting. Hopefully some closure or motive can be found to ease some of the uncertainty the survivors may feel.

Politics aside, Glenn Beck had some heartening words of encouragement, very powerful yesterday:

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours.
Now and for ever. Amen
