Santelli Responds to Gibbs’ Challenge, Wins

By now you must have heard/seen CNBC reporter Rick Santelli’s rant against the Obama mortgage/socialist bailout plan that happened last week. If not, check this link first to watch the rant of the year before you continue below.

The White House was none too pleased with Mr. Santelli so the snarky Press Secretary Robert Gibbs set forth a challenger for Mr. Santelli to read the legislation. Well, this is what happened:

Classic, give Santelli a medal. Those of us living in the “play by the rules” column will not get hosed by this administration and irresponsible borrowers forever, that’s a certainty.

  2. Good for him. I really hope that Fox Business will offer Rick a job so I can watch him more. He’s dead on when it comes to talking about the stimulus and the idiot administration who’s behind it.

Bill I’m right there with you! Our time will come my friend, and I think it will be sooner then later. The pendulum is about to swing and 2010 will be our year.

  4. First let me just link Robert Gibbs remarks since it is apparent that this site only puts the counter argument in the main articles.

So for the sake of showing all the information for visitors of the site… here is the video of what Press Secretary Robert Gibbs had to say in response to Santelli’s first rant.

    http://www.youtube.com/wa.....iGvZ6h5ezs

I think Santelli and Gibbs exemplify the problem we are in. Santelli says that it isn’t our job to pay for our neighbors mortgage who might have a bigger bathroom, however, Gibbs points out the more of our neighbor’s homes that foreclose the less the value of your home will be, thus making it hard for people to sell their homes who are struggling to make their payments.

Proving that there is no easy answer to the problem.

Just pay your bills! It’s that simple. It seems to work for millions of Americans. See you liberals try to complicate things, when we moved in to our new home there were 5 houses on the block that were in foreclosures, now all of the homes have been purchased, mostly by young couples like ourselves for great deals. These houses didn’t site on the market long, just a few months. See the system really does work, those who can’t afford are out, those who can afford are in. That simple.

  6. Conservative Gal………May I add to your comment:
Know your limitations and don’t get in over your head.
JD…………………..The liberal left can come up with any cockamamie idea or reason to justify their existance or one of their programs. But as long as they legislate from their feelings and making Americans subservient to government and not through responsibility and common sense you will receive this disproportionary response. We conservatives on this site are the Simon for these “AMERICAN IDLE” and we will be heard.

  7. JD, I believe the point of the video posted was that the participants in the video felt that Gibbs directly slapped Santelli in the face with his sarcasm, and as the video states, also ridiculed him for exercising his first amendment rights of free speech. Posting a link to Gibbs comment only fortifies the argument put forth in the video.

Thanks for posting, I didn’t realize just how sarcastic Gibbs was, or for that matter, the journalist phrasing his question.

  8. Babs…….JD has a habit of posting proof to backup OUR SIDE OF THE ARGUMENT.He did it with me on the “Dear John” thread in regard to FDR and the depression.
Gibbs seems to be mirroring the Presidents cantankerous mood when questioned by the press. He better get use to giving definitions and distinctions on policy or it’s going to be a long four years.

  10. Babs, I don’t mind putting out the video and having everyone come to their conclusions whether that is for one side of a discussion or another.

Still, i think it is appropriate to put all the information if we are going to call the site “youdecide” politics. and let the comments present the points.

Conservative Gal, You would fail macro-economics… The notion of what is good for you does not always mean it is good for everyone. For example, the housing prices in Houston are only slightly down and, for the most part, isolated to certain areas of the city… most the suburbs. However, the recession is hitting other states harder than Texas by far. Examples would be California, Florida and Nevada and so on…

Now, I am not arguing that not doing anything isn’t a solution. There are plenty of resolutions that can come from that. For example, if it gets bad enough people from failing states would migrate to states that have a better economy and compete for jobs in those cities and states.

Still, this problem is not isolated to just the issue of the housing market. The average American is sitting with 6-10 thousand in Credit Card Debt, Rising cost of Health Insurance, and a Market that is not booming by any shape or form.

I would argue that the only thing that has saved the middle class has been the many wives that have joined in over the past few decades (getting 9-5 jobs) to help the family out with the rising costs of living.

  11. Uh, JD, this statement “Conservative Gal, You would fail macro-economics…”, if I recall, that was a major of CG’s, as well as a passion. Unless you have a higher degree on the subject than she does, I would suggest you skip that one.

I agree all sides should be heard. Ironically, you didn’t agree with that before the election when the MSM was very one sided towards obama. You defended them then, because it played to your preference. This is simply a report on an incident that was reported on by CNN. If it’s not favorable to the left, that’s not Nate’s fault. He’s just reporting the news item.

  12. To quote JD: “Like a belly button, I am outie. You guys enjoy your haterade and good luck in 20102012.”

Like Obama, JD breaks his promises time and time again, when will we learn to stop getting hurt? It’s funny to watch the guy defending failed socialist policies of the past tell someone else they’ll fail economics. Kind of like the socialist pot calling the kettle black?

  13. Babs, I will retract my statement about Conservative Gal. I don’t know if I have a higher degree… I might have been poking a fire on that comment but I still stand by the fact that what is good for one is not always good for many. I know that is something they crammed in my face during my economic studies.

As during the election… I rarely, if ever, argued over the Bias on Nate’s writings on Youdecide2008.com. If fact, that is what I liked about this site. It was not posting BIAS in its main article or at least it tried its best not to. However, the main articles on here are way more Bias than during the election.

As for me defending MSM… I would be curious for you to produce me defending CNN, CBS, CNBC or any other News source. I am not a fan of MSM, hence the reason why I get most my news from other sources than them and why I use to love the articles on this site.

Thanks Nate, Can you start a website tracking them all? I know you are working on one for Obama… What is one more? XOXOXO

  15. JD, you have to stop long enough to realize that the election was just that – an election, and Nate presented all sides of the competition. The election is over, and the winner always has a metaphorical bullseye on his back. It would be a very boring site indeed if we just sat around in a circle singing kumbaya – although I’m sure that’s what obama thought would happen on Nov. 5th.

I caught an article today on the approval ratings for the last 8 or 10 presidents in their first month in office. Obama is running neck in neck with Clinton, but behind many others – including Bush.

Simple “truths” do not change depending on degree.

    Conservative Gal said..

“Just pay your bills! It’s that simple. It seems to work for millions of Americans. For the sake of argument, I will assume you have a degree in economics. Using your significant “powers of degree ” disprove her.

The argument you used earlier you know is stupid. Had they paid their bills there would be no problem. And if they didn’t, sooner or later the homes would be bought. When buyer/seller price meet. As has happened all through our history.

Go ahead, prove your degree. Let’s say you have a higher degree and know better. Maybe you do. I believe you.

OR…You could just skip this article. That’s norm. Don’t say..your wrong and sorry to Conservative Gal.

Settle down… Good lord. I don’t live on this site so I don’t keep up with the 100 posts you put up per each topic.

If you would have read, I was responding to Babs when she said that I should talk about Conservatives knowledge in economics because that is her field of study. I was just saying that I agree and that probably don’t have a higher degree in that field. But as you pointed out… this conversation really doesn’t have anything to do with degrees.

I was poking the fire when I said that so I was taking it back. I am sure Conservative Gal is highly educated.

Again, You need to take a chill pill, bill. Or you might not make it to the next election.
