Yes she is honest. She believes what she says. And says it. She’s smart too. Knows not to say the no-no things. sometimes. Remember she ruined a bill agreement when she talked bad about Republicans ?

In another place, I showed link America has more oil than Middle East. Found with new techology and abiility to extract. I will search and get back with you on that link.

You are correct it takes long time to deveolop oil field. However, in some areas structure is in place and new oil production would be fast. If we do not start developing we will never have.

With quickness the issue, why all the extras, good or bad. Place them on a less urgent bill. Example– STD . Had they focused and left stuff like that out, the bill might be law weeks ago.

A congressman setting aside a certain amount of money for his own congressional district (or a single company, or whatever) is an earmark. This bill, which, if strictly held to the definition of “economic stimulus”, may have some things in it that do not directly deal with economic stimulus (pork, as you would say), doesn’t seem to have any earmarks, as far as I can tell.

If my definition of earmark is correct, then it seems his definition of earmark is essentially correct, and by definition, the president is incapable of creating earmarks as the very definition of earmark involves bypassing normal federal funding distribution.

I will concede that some of the bill is not directly related to economic stimulus(or, at least not in the short term), but to be fair, a lot of it has been removed over the past few weeks, and a lot of the stuff there, while maybe not exactly stimulus, are worthwhile projects(imo). Maybe they should be in another bill, sure.

As for Bill Hedges suggestion to drill a lot, I don’t think it would be nearly the economic help that you think it would. In fact, I remember reading that drilling would have essentially no impact economically for a long time.

It will be many decades berore oil needs comes down to a trickle. To super boast our econmy we need to drill. To open this up and curtail road blocks in long run might create more jobs than this bill ever would. Leaving our money in America for our economy. Instead of buying foreign oil.

Uhderstand there is only so much money in the world American can borrow. Each dollar government uses, is one less dollar Mr. Jones can borrow to start his small business.

Although money spent for STD is important, pupose of this bill is homes, jobs and loosening the credit crunch. Take the non-essental out–PORK
