Happy Easter 2008!

Hope everyone enjoys their day. I figured it’d be fitting to track the candidates as well and how they spent their Easter weekend. Here’s some reports on them all.

Obama and Clinton both took the day off, McCain also took a break from campaigning, story from Reuters:

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama took a much-needed rest from their presidential campaigns on Easter Sunday as their tight race for the Democratic nomination looked set to drag on for months.

Republican John McCain, who has locked up his party’s nomination, returned from an overseas trip where he tried to polish his foreign policy credentials and prepared for a fundraising swing through Western states this week.

I checked the candidate websites just to see if the put out an Easter greeting.

McCain had an Easter banner message, you can see that here.

I couldn’t find a message from Clinton or Obama. Let me know if you find them.

And no mention of Purim from anyone of them as well. Very interesting.

Why the heck would they talk about Purim? This country is less than 2% Jewish. If you want to hear about Purim, go to Israel.

I don’t know, pandering? Political correctness? The same reasons politicians always mention these things?

Anyway, they may be more spread out, but compared to Isreal we’ve got about 78% of their population’s worth of Jews here in America. That’s not exactly nothing. We’ve got a diverse nation here, and few of us are native to it – so don’t expect everyone to go back to their homelands when they want a taste of home.

I’m ashamed to say it, but I’m not even sure I could locate Caucasia on a map.

Your sarcasm is duly noted. My point is that are we going to start celebrating holidays for everyone now? How about Pioneer Day for the Mormons. After all there are more Mormons than Jews in the US. Michael was being obnoxious by bringing up a little know Jewish holiday on Easter. I live next to the town with the highest population of Jews outside Israel and I’ve never heard of Purim
