New Clinton Strategy: Keep Hinting at Obama as VP

This has to be a trend now since she discussed it with Harry Smith on Wednesday morning.

She brought up the possibility of Obama as a running mate again today, this time in Mississippi, story from Breitbart:

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday again raised the possibility that she might run with rival Sen. Barack Obama on the same Democratic presidential ticket.

Speaking to voters in Mississippi, where Sen. Barack Obama is expected to do well in next week’s primary, Clinton said, “I’ve had people say, ‘Well I wish I could vote for both of you. Well, that might be possible some day. But first I need your vote on Tuesday.”

It is the second time this week that she has hinted at a joint ticket with the Illinois senator; he has not ruled it out but says it is premature to be having those discussions.

The town hall meeting at a train depot in Hattiesburg was Clinton’s second appearance in Mississippi, where 33 delegates will be allocated in its Democratic presidential primary Tuesday.

Clinton has already sought to lower expectations for the contest in this state where Obama is expected to do well, largely because of his increasing appeal among black voters.

Mississippi’s population is 37 percent black.

“I know that I may have an uphill battle here in the state, I appreciate that,” Clinton said.

Work with me here but this makes sense. If Hillary can convince voters that a vote for her equals a voter for Obama on the ticket, she may sway some people who want her “experience” over Obama’s “inspiration”. I believe this has become a calculated strategy for the Clinton campaign to placate voters excited about Obama but maybe hesitant to put him as Commander-in-Chief.

Seems that way to me since she voluntarily brought it up again.

One of the things that I have found interesting about Hillary is the fact that you can never get her true opinion on Obama. One day shes shaking his hand and speaking about how proud she is on having Obama on stage with her. The next day shes shaking her finger into the camera and speaking down to him. Of course this is the nature of a political race but can you say the same about any other candidate that has done this to this degree in the past? Now you hear talk about Hillary mentioning an Hillary/Obama ticket. Excuse me while I duck and take cover.

Obama should rule out a Vice presidency under Clinton immediately. What advantage does he think he gets from keeping this ambiguous. Cut the monster off from this line of reasoning, putting him in a defensive position. He sure us not contemplating accepting if this would become real, then just say it !

  • So the She Devil wants the Messiah as her VP, interesting. Well its a way to shield her evilness and let his glorious light shine upon her.

  • Her attempt to marginalize Obama by trying to cast him in this way is a very weak tactic at this point in the game. She does not have much ground to stand on to make such statements: she ended up only winning only 2 states on March 4 (Obama won more delegates in Texas than she did), she is still behind by the same marging of delegates now as she was at the begining of the week, and in my opinion her camp is still struggling to come up with a consistent message and theme. Her argument here seems way to farced and tactical, Obama is still the clear frontrunner. It is still his narrow road to the nomination to lose, many people know it, she knows it and he knows it. It think it is kind of funny to watch her political girations over the last 24 hours… in Wyomning her campaign, thorugh Bill, is painting herself as the underdog while on the very same day she is in Mississippi casting herself as the inevitable force once again by playing on this VP nonsense. Obama should reject these comments as baseless and manipulative, and just try to further paint her as the cold, calcualting and out of touch politician she really is.
