Hillary poised for a comeback in Texas? – Updated

Well yesterday I wouldn’t have thought so but the latest poll numbers indicate a possibility. The latest average from RealClearPolitics shows Clinton ahead by a little less than 2 percentage points. That’s well within the margin of error but it is a reverse of the trend toward Obama.

In the past 24-48 hours there has been a swing back from Obama. Interestingly enough the Obama campaign is no longer making predictions about Texas or Ohio whereas the Clinton camp is feeling “cautiously optimistic”.

Still, the problem in Texas, at least for Clinton, is the caucus debacle. Obama runs rings around her in caucuses which will cloud the results tonight of the primary.

Here’s Hillary discussing her prospects in Texas earlier today:

We’ll see in a couple hours if her optimism is justified. Considering the fact that Obama has won 11 straight and that trend will probably stop tonight, she’s doing pretty well.

She won Texas so this indication of a comeback was correct.

You know, Nate, there is a consensus going around that the shiny silver on Obama is becoming a bit tarnished, and that the charm of his speeches are getting old. Someone suggested that Obama might be stronger now in states that he previously did not do well in, because people were changing their minds. But I think tonight might be a good measuring stick of that – I think people MIGHT be changing their minds – away from Obama. When all the votes are tallied, I think we’ll see.

    Told you so.
