The debate will be live tonight from Nevada, 1/15/08, at 9pm eastern on MSNBC. Here’s a little preview and some background on Kucinich’s involvement.
Olbermann aside, here’s a preview from MSNBC’s Chuck Todd on what to expect tonight in Nevada:
Also, here’s a press report from UPI:
NEW YORK, Jan. 14 (UPI) — The top three U.S. Democrats vying for the presidential nomination are seeking questions about minority groups for their debate Tuesday in Las Vegas.
Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina will address questions on immigration and other issues related to minority groups, the party said.
The debate Tuesday night will be broadcast and streamed live by MSNBC and questions can be filed at either the msnbc.com or januarydebate.com Web sites, the company said. It will be moderated by “NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams.
The debate is sponsored by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, 100 Black Men of America, IMPACTO, the Democratic African-American Leadership Council, the College of Southern Nevada and the Nevada Democratic Party.
It’s worth noting that originally Dennis Kucinich was excluded from this debate by MSNBC but a judge recently ordered that he be allowed to participate:
Here’s the AP on that:
LAS VEGAS (AP) — NBC News said Monday it will appeal a judge’s ruling rather than include Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich in a candidates’ debate in Nevada.
“We disagree with the judge’s decision and are filing an appeal,” said a statement provided by Jeremy Gaines, a vice president for MSNBC, sponsor of Tuesday night’s debate. Gaines said the parent network would seek an immediate hearing before the Nevada Supreme Court.
Hours earlier, Senior Clark County District Court Judge Charles Thompson ruled that Kucinich, an Ohio congressman, must be allowed to participate. If he is excluded, Thompson said he would issue an injunction to stop the televised debate.
Kucinich’s lawyer had argued that MSNBC at first invited him to participate, then last week reversed course and told him he could not.
Something tells me that Kucinich will be appearing in this debate. No chance that MSNBC will allow it to be halted since they need the ratings and it will inevitably be widely viewed. Got to hand it to Kucinich though, he doesn’t take “No” for an answer.
As always, we’ll have clips and analysis once it completes along with the full debate video for anyone who misses it.

All of the times listed are missing the time zone – since debates are always broadcast live, does this mean that I can watch it live at 9 pm in California or would it be 6 pm, or?
Sorry, it’s 9pm eastern time, I failed to mention that. So 6pm pacific? I’m terrible at time zones.
Thank you. Pacific time is always 3 hours behind Eastern time.
Congress had set a limit on what lenders may charge of 24.99% but FEES have made this restriction moot! Congress hasn’t stepped up to enforce this limit which seems reasonable by all standards. Rather then economic stmilus re-reforming lending would allow more money to be spent immediately. Of course there are those that will say we need less lending but reforming these rates would force the lenders to be more responsible then they currently are.
What would you as President do to reform lenders and make spendign a little easier on teh middleclass?
Does anyone know where I can watch the democratic debates in vegas tonight streamed over the internet? I can’t seem to find anyone hosting it.
I searched but can’t seem to find a live stream anywhere. We’ll have the full video up once it airs.
When are you guys going to post the video. Is it going to be after the entire show airs or during the show.
I’ll have clips up as soon as they’re available. The full video will be online later tonight after it airs.
I hear each of these candidates continue to talk about the middle class, what about the poor. What will all of them do to improve the lives of everyone below middle class? Those are the ones who need to hear what thet will do for them?
Please allow me to state for the record Senator Obama, that as an African American woman occupying a place here in this America, have you considered that you’re the only candidate in the race that has a capable outside chance to defeat Senator Clinton.
Otherwise, hated by the anybody but Hilary, she undoubtedly becomes our next president. I say this because I live by this policy, “when in doubt, do nothing!” Doesn’t it better serve your advantage to keep Hilary’s chances to win the nomination alive and go to a brokered convention?
It is better you put your large ego to the side and consolidate the great positive gains you’ve made for blacks in America at large. Wouldn’t a guarantee of a vice presidency, as a worst case scenario, be more beneficial to your long term governing interest and the self respect of an entire nation to keep the dream alive?
Stop playing into this Republican investigative Obamagate and get a grip before you fall and take all the years and opportunities gained through years of suffrage.

what a disapointment not being able to see it stream live–what’s the point of letting all these media companies run roughshod over our rights if we can’t see a little debate?
What a frigging bore fest! It’s amazing to me that anyone is actually considered a front runner and conversely in last place. NBC and MSNBC lobed some of the softest and most uninteresting questions I’ve ever heard. Enough with the MLK debacle! Geez! I love Brian Williams and Tim Russert but can’t they take a hint and accept the truce?
Ok maybe the whole thing wasn’t a total waste of time because at last I figured out why Obama is so… Liked by the youth, the optimist, the free thinkers, and the media (not necessarily for the most benign of reasons). Sadly, I also figured out why my guy, Edwards, is not doing so well… And probably won’t do any better. On the other hand, I was very surprised by the way HC re-directed and focused most of her answers on how incompetent the current administration (and by default & association the republicans) has been in handling the countries affairs. Clearly she well prepared to tackle any and every attack from the GOP – Does that make her electable?
The lines that made an impact on me for each candidate:
Obama – Families should also be held accountable for their children’s welfare. Government can’t do it alone.
Edwards – Opposes the construction of nuclear plants (Edwards, as it appears, wants to go back to the days of horse and carriage).
Clinton – Totally focused on ripping the GOP.
All in all, HC came out looking great. Obama is truly well thought out and, eventhough he could be a little bit of a boyscout with his ideal, doesn’t talk out of his ass; and Edwards… well, lets just say he came off looking like the party’s rebel-rouser-court-jester that really talks a good game but doesn’t really mean it. He’s like the employee that’s pissed off about not getting a raise in spite of his already good salary, and aligns his self with the mail room guys to create a ruckus to justify his own agenda.
After last night I’ll say, there’s a strong possibility we’ll have a republican president.
I did not know of the debate on Tuesday on MSNBC , I found it by accident, its hard to find the debate schedules.
I plan to show the October 7, to a civic group. How do we access the debate? Is there a schedule?
