Republican Debate Tonight on Fox News @ 8pm – 1/6

Share/Bookmark

Yes, there is yet another debate making it two days in a row now but tonight is only for the Republican candidates being hosted by Fox News and moderated by Chris Wallace.

Here’s the story on it from WCAX-TV:

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Five major Republican candidates appear tonight in Manchester for a Fox News Channel presidential forum. The Fox forum has been criticized for excluding Republicans Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter from the forum. Yesterday the New Hampshire Republican Party announced it was dropping out as a Fox’s partner in the forum because of the network’s exclusion of Paul and Hunter.

The network has said it invited candidates who had received double-digit support in recent polls. Fox invited Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson.

Paul, meanwhile, is scheduled to hold a live forum on local television in Manchester at 5 p.m.

Ron Paul has been excluded and, as such, the New Hampshire Republican Party decided to pull it’s sponsorship from this debate as it believes nobody should be excluded. The NH Republican Party had also made pleas to ABC to include Kucinich and Hunter as well in their 1/5 debates.

But now it appears Paul will get his own televised town hall meeting, to which I say, good for him. Most candidates would love a televised town hall meeting where only they got to speak on issues. So perhaps for Paul, it will turn out better for him as he’ll have a venue all to himself.

I’ll be covering the Fox forum tonight and have the full video and clips once it airs. I’ll also have some clips and analysis of Paul’s town hall forum once that airs.

Update

Ron Paul’s Town Hall event is being streamed live at his website here if you’re interested. Just started at 5pm.

Dear Chris Wallace or Staff of Fox News

I have tried without success to get the below question answered by all potential presidential candidates of either the Democratic or Republican or Independent parties.

    My question is simple:

If any of you on the stage tonight become President of the United States in 2008, would you enact into Law the Stem Cell Research Enactment Act of 2007? If yes why? If no why not? Do not confuse this vital question with Cloning or the Abortion Issue. I realize that this question is provocative.

On numerous tries via y tube, I submitted (8) video/questions to be posed to all presidential candidates without success. I would appreciate it greatly if you would review my videos and place one of them on your presidential format questioning.

    My User Name is: dlsae2007.

I believe the above question should be answered by all candidates, and I am sure the listening public would be quite interested to hearing the response by these candidates regarding this question.

Personally, I am an Insulin Dependent Type 2 Diabetic who has suffered from this condition for the last 18 years of my life. I speak for the 110,000,000+ individuals living in the U.S.A. today who also suffer from chronic diseases or illnesses who could greatly benefit from Embryonic Clean Stem Cell Research Therapies. We the disenchanted want an answer to this question. It is inconceivable that the President Administration is denying additional Federal Funds to be applied TO ADDITIONAL EMBRYONIC CLEAN STEM CELL THERAPY RESEARCH LINES. The above Act would be monitored under the direct eye of the National institute of Health (NIH). Senator Arlen Specter and former Senator Rick Santorium provided a logical alternative to have this Act placed into law.

I am providing significant time to have my question placed on the format to be asked by Mr. Williams or Mr. Russert to the potential candidates who will appear on January 15, 2008 in Nevada at the “LAST LONE DEBATERS ” Pleaese contact me A.S.A.P. regarding my request

Thank you for your attention to this matter,

  2. Mr. Stein,

With all due respect (and I believe you are due it because you have phrased your question carefully and pretty neutrally – and I would love for a debate moderator to address this issue without any spin or agenda), perhaps you ought to be asking why so many (primarily but not entirely on the political left) are demagoguing and lying about this issue, and refusing to allow the passage of bills that support research into pluripotent adult and cord blood stem cell research such as championed by Rep. Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland, which have shown much promise, without tying it to the snake oil of EMBRYONIC stem cell research, which has shown NOT ONE beneficial medical application. And why they continue to lie in saying the current President is blocking stem cell research when he is fact the FIRST president to fund it. There is a lot of damaging, untruthful social science masquerading as real science.

  4. Our nation needs a PRESIDENT ROMNEY to strengthen our economy, deal with a potential recession and yet keep our taxes low. His proven problem-solving experience from outside the Washington belt way makes Romney the best choice. Also, he has the best chance of winning against the democrats.
