Its A group called the Illuminati and if you havnt heard of this, than you obviously dont know diddly crap about who is controlling us. Do a little research. Listen to the ALex Jone’s radio Show on Infowars.com . Dig for truth and dont be in denial.

  4. The Illuminati? Right. And I suppose you believe they’re tied to Freemasonry, too. Alex Jones is paranoid to the nth degree. I’m amazed he doesn’t live in a cave surrounded by booby traps just in case someone should try to get to him. Dig for truth and don’t be paranoid. The world situation is of our own making, not some secret order of Illuminati. And it’s not all doom and gloom, either.

  8. What is more ridiculous than anything else is that most of the American public are independant voters… ie.. neither
    Republican or Democrats.

Check out the “third” party candidates and vote your heart. Don’t be swayed by the two big parties who have candidates that in reality don’t really represent America or even their own parties.

Obama is the most liberal politician since Carter. McCain is about as liberal as Clinton (both of them). They both want to try and play the moderates that most of us are. Well when you keep playing the middle against the middle then you are going to lose something and that is what I see happening as both are losing integrity and changing their minds at will depending on who they are talking to.

It is time to fire Washington and to get the Democrats and the Republicans out of the presidency so that we can get some respect back for the office. The kind of respect that ended with greats such as Reagon and Kennedy (both Bobby and JFK).

I and my brothers and the Marines who preceded us already fought and secured yours..

PS – Veitnam and Korea did not secure my freedom. If you think that, then I am sorry that you were lied to. The last true threat to our potential “freedom” was loosing our western European Allies and Hawaii. You could count Cuba in there, but we actually had a president who could reason with the enemy, not just kill them. *gasp*

Of course, what’s freedom when someone like me, who loves my country, can’t even support who I want for president without bullies and personal attacks?

  16. Translation of the convention speach: “I am my brother and sister’s keeper….” – Translation – socialism. “I will raise taxes on the top 95% of all income earners….” – translation – working families where the mother and father both work resulting in over $100,000 a year for household taxable income will see a tax increase.

Put on your seat belt – those that work will be taxed more so that those that don’t can have that wealth transferred to them in some way.

Also – I have never understand the phrase – “provide healthcare for ALL Americans…” – why do we need to or even want to provide healthcare for people like Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and the millions of millionaires in this country? Answer – we should not. Healthcare should be given to those that dont have it but we should not provide it to everyone in a universal fashion like socialist countries do.

Obama’s speach shows his socialist agenda – raise taxes and pump those taxes into massive social programs. I do realize there are many who want that but nothing is free – there will be a huge price tag to turn American into a socialized democracy. Once we do that, its over – incentives will be gone for America to achieve.

  18. Big Business, Mega Corps, whatever you want to call “Corporate America” has been the major influence in our wages, job opportunity, health care, home prices, interest rates, &…. & …. on and on, the quality of which has been declining ever since we fell for the trap to send all our women into the workplace. Families have deteriorated, and the kids that are being launched into society just don’t have the nurturing and guidance needed to keep this nation strong and sound. The people we have elected have been pawns to the Corporations, nothing more. I think someone as new and fresh as Obama has the best chance of reversing this trend as anyone I have seen or heard of in many years. The small risk that he is not all that he seems to be is well worth it, in my opinion.

  19. I was excited about Obama at first And then he kept talking…Free health care, college for everyone. Guess I’ll be paying for this since I have a job.

Why should I pay for other people’s college education. I had to pay back student loans and beg for grants to pay for my college. I also worked multiple jobs and carried a full load every semester. I did not go to Princeton. But I did go to a good state university. I have no sympathy for people wanting a free ride thru college. Besides, the government needs to concentrate on free grades 1-12 first so we have more capable young people to go to college.

And if you want insurance – get a job. Most companies offer some sort of insurance. Not free insurance. But then why should it be free?
Hospitals are businesses. Not charities. But there are charity hospitals and medical services available that charge fees on a sliding scale. I have used those clinics and once a charity hospital. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. But it was pretty much free. I didn’t complain. I’m older now and have insurance that is mostly provided by my employer. I am fortunate. For now. If I lose my insurance I will have to buy catastrophic insurance and go back to using sliding scale clinics. If hit by a bus or something I guess I’m going to the charity hospital.

And this new government health care system.. hmm. Will we be going to government health care clinics? Yea right. Ask anyone that has used the VA system to tell how great government healthcare is. We have Ten Care in our state and now it’s broke. (In part because of corruption). And the coverage was about as basic as it gets.

Every time the government gets involved with something they screw it up and it becomes more expensive. There has to be other solutions to healthcare and education than government giveaways.

  21. All the choices are a bit lacking – but I think Obama is lacking most of all. I love his comment that his running his election campaign is MORE experience than Palin as Mayor and Governor. LMAO! Obama can’t manage 2 sentences on his own without a teleprompter or his ventriloquist speaking. McCain is, well, old.

America is not ruined but is filled with a bunch of whinny children who don’t want to take care of themselves. If we think things are bad now, just wait until China and India get their people fully industrialized and then we will have a lot to bitch about. You think the jobs are leaving now and the economy is crap? Just wait until BILLIONS of people are better trained, better educated, willing to work for less, and go without all the PERKS of a country like ours.

What we really need is a candidate that is going to step up and lay it down on how Americans need to stop being whinny little kids. Because if Americans don’t step up, there are billions of others that will and they will happily take those crappy ass jobs that Americans think that they are too good for.

  22. I too am glad Obama is leading. I’m a 50 year old, white female from the South. What this administration has done to our Country is a shame. The debt is rising every day, we have no business in Iraq, Katrina, outing a CIA agent, and the list goes on. If you are worried about paying for health care, college etc., you could take the money wasted on this war and do a lot for the people of this country instead of making record profits for the oil companies. You can say what you want, but this war was about oil and money. If you elect John McCain, you can expect the next 4 years to look a lot like the last 8. You are the young people that will be paying for all this. My husband and I are retired and have a fairly comfortable life, but I worry about my children and future grandchildren. If you have the opportunity to travel outside our Country, you will find out really quick just how weak our dollar has become. This in and of itself is a tax on the American people. I hope all you young people really turn out and vote. This is about you.

  28. Joe Reyes-

Any credibility you think you may have had just went out the window with your Palin comment. Put it back in your pants.

NYB- “public education cesspool?” Should the country just stop investing money in an educational system that millions of kids need? Public school teachers work their assess off for their students, with little or no reward, comparatively small salaries, and more and more pressure put upon them by state and federal programs year after year.

Figure it out. Not everyone has $30,000 to spend on their kid going to private school, and there aren’t (and shouldn’t be) enough vouchers to make up the difference. Public school NEEDS to be handled better for the children of the country, and the current office holders in Washington haven’t done ANYTHING to help the situation. And don’t say No Child Left Behind, which has been a total failure.

  29. BL,

Money is not the problem. We keep throwing more and more money at education and it hasn’t helped. Parents need to be more involved in their childrens education. Teachers need to be accountable for their performance. You can have the best facilities in the world, but if the kids don’t show up prepared, it won’t matter.

  32. BL, I thought McCain echoed many of our concerns about education last night, and I liked his strategy. In case you didn’t catch it:

“Education is the civil rights issue of this century. Equal access to public education has been gained. But what is the value of access to a failing school? We need to shake up failed school bureaucracies with competition, empower parents with choice, remove barriers to qualified instructors, attract and reward good teachers, and help bad teachers find another line of work.

When a public school fails to meet its obligations to students, parents deserve a choice in the education of their children. And I intend to give it to them. Some may choose a better public school. Some may choose a private one. Many will choose a charter school. But they will have that choice and their children will have that opportunity.

Senator Obama wants our schools to answer to unions and entrenched bureaucracies. I want schools to answer to parents and students. And when I’m President, they will.”

  33. I am glad to see that Obama is ahead, but then again I was glad to see the Bush was behind in 2004. The thing that I find extremely difficult to believe is that there are people out there that buy into the thought that a speech from Palin accounts for who she is. It is completely hypocritical that they GOP states that the Dems are being sexist and the media is being sexist when the radio host for the GOP, the buttons at the convention state “She’s the hottest VP” and “Hottest VP from the Coolest state”.

The GOP likes to make comments about flip flopping and changing minds. They like to say that Palin has took the oil companies on and was against the bridge to nowhere, when she was for the bridge until the nation made a laughing stock of her for pushing for the brdge. Even more so when she has the extremist views to actually say in a speech to students “The war in Iraq is God’s will we must pray for this. The Natural Gas Pipeline is God’s will, we must, you must pray for the pipeline”

This woman in under ethics violation as of August 2008 in a filing that was just made. She is not good change, she is solidifying and expanding on Bush policies. McCain/Palin is the perfect ticket if you thing Bush great. Obviously the GOP is distancing them selves as if they are not even part of the party. What a joke.

It’s all ready been decided and they are all puppets. Look at Obama, for example. He talked about tapping in to the US’s oil reserves but backed off when he got major flack for it. Before, he didn’t want to see any new off-shore oil drilling. Now, he’s all for it. He doesn’t know which way to turn on most issues and it shows whenever he talks. He talked about bringing “our boys” home from the war in Iraq. Now he says they shouldn’t be in Iraq but in Afghanistan! WOW!!! nothing like sitting on the fence.

Well, God help us is Obama is another 4 years of Biden.” This is a ingnorant comparison. McCains platform mirrors Bush’s 04 campaign.

This will certainly play out interestingly. I think that if you were go back and read the every speakers speech, you will see that Bush is not mentioned. It is as if the GOP wants to pretend like He never existed. You cant hide from your past and when it comes to the fact that McCain votes 90%(88.733%) of the time with Bush, he is basically a carbon copy.

Here is Karl Roves thoughts on Experience:
    Karl Rove:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuh7DM7JWSk
ove: “With all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he’s been a governor for three years, he’s been able but undistinguished,” Rove said. “I don’t think people could really name a big, important thing that he’s done. He was mayor of the 105th largest city in America.”

Rove continued: “So if he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, `You know what? I’m really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States.”

Suddenly after Palin is selected, Rove and McCain change there platform from Experience to reform. Nothing like being against something and then being for it.

As Rove said, the choice of Palin was “political choice”. Funny how the GOP has the ability to bend the truth. Yeah, she has been the govenor of the largest state in the union by size, but the 47th largest state by population. She has a staff of 50 people.

GOP has like to bend the truth, it was stated that Palin got more votes in her mayoral campaign than Biden did in the primarys. Palin got a total of 1600+ votes, Biden got 79000+ votes, that must be that No Child left behind math at work.

I am curious is she going to do her job as a Vice President from Anchorage also? or even the Presidential job? She has proven you do not need to be where you are expected to be. The democrats claim they have change – what with a 35 year vet. senator??? I think Obama sold out the Clinton’s and he will sell out the american people if he needed to…. John McCain integrity stands for itself – he even wouldn’t leave behind his own fellow men. WOULD HAVE OBAMA SAID NO and been punished.

McCain is just more of puppet for Big Oil and Big Business, if he gets elected the back bone of this country (middle class) will suffer. I don’t see McCain or Palin getting out there to help any one but themselves. I just don’t trust them to do what they say, Integrity is not their strong suit. But “America” will decide how it wants to take the next step into the future. I’ll blame Obama when record number of business close because Obama hit corporations (your employer) with such heavy taxes they can no longer afford to stay open, or pay YOU so you can buy those expensive groceries. I’ll blame Obama for keeping us dependent on foreign oil just to get to work and back, provided we still have a job to go to after he taxes the corporations out of business.

That’s a lot of blame. That’s why I’ll just vote McCain/Palin and see the RIGHT change come to Washington.

Our public education is a cesspool. And the schools have the test scores to prove it. I’m not sure that there is anything that can be done at a Federal level that will actually help the school systems. I think NCLB is/was/will be a totaly failure.

By the way, all children have the capability to receive the equivalent education to those that are in the $30k and up schools, at least that’s just based on the test scores and analysis that I have seen. The only problem is that it requires a serious commitment from parents as well as tremendous sacrifice as well – and most parents can’t or won’t do it. But the option is there. Ivy League schools are seeking out these students – and yet most of those parents spent considerably less than what the government spends on educating children. Who are they? Homeschooled kids – far out performing the public schools and averaging about the same as those in the “exclusive” schools. Studies also show that they have better self-esteem then children in a traditional school setting as well being less likely to cave in to peer pressure.

But neither McCain nor Obama will solve the education problem. The only real question: is what sort of freedom of choice about the education your children receive? Obama wants all kids to have the same level of education. McCain thinks the parents should be able to choose for themselves.

On that it issue, to me, the choice is clear: McCain.

Our cost of food is going to skyrocket if we are going to try to use biofuels. India is already suffering and feeling the pinch. Brazil has increased deforestation of the Amazon by 69% to meet the demands for bio-fuels. Add Obama’s tax increases and we will really be feeling the pinch – at the grocery store, the “fuel” station, clothing.

Also keep in mind that much of Americas use of petroleum isn’t even for fuel – have you seen the number of items that are used on a daily basis that are made with petroleum products???

Add the billions Obama plans to spend and America is just going to get worse.

What we really need is to decrease government spending. So far I haven’t seen a real candidate that truly supports cutting the government.

“I think NCLB is/was/will be a totaly failure.” Are you one of the home schooled kids? Maybe you should look at McCain a little closer. He support No Child Left Behind”. Everyone know this is a failed Bush program, but apparently McCain thinks it would be different if we stay the course and see it through. Maybe that is because he knows that if graduates are under-educated that they will see the military as a way out. “I struggled in school, so maybe if I join the military, I can go to college. If not, its ok, I will always have job in Iraq. McCain we would be there for 100 years”

I know home schooled kids. They are the ones that have very limited social skills. They are ones that when you are at a business meeting or event that say when you bring up your past, that say “Oh I didn’t go to prom, I didn’t get to go to dances, etc, I was home schooled” I am not saying these things make you a better person, but when you are in the business world, part of your success is your ability to build a rapport with people. In my experience they are just not armed with the tools and this is even more so if they do not go to college.

If you take a close look at the McCain plans, you will find that McCains platform is nearly identical to the Bush/Republican platform from 2004. This is where you have to realize that the republicans have been in control of the house and Senate for the past 12 years until 2007 and for the past 8 years have had the white house also. If you want to distance yourself from failed Washington policies, vote Democrat. How does a person such as John McCain seriously expect that he can relate to the middle class. He grew up with the ability to have pretty much what he wants. His Military career has been storied and is truely inspirational, but how can you sell that story when your wife comes to the RNC in dress valued at $300,000.00. The Average American would not make that much money in 10 years.

I find it really disturbing that Palin was selected as a VP based soley on her being a woman. There are 100’s women and men that are far more qualified and certainly not as extreme. You kind hide from your past and retract statements that can not be misinterpreted and just pretend you didn’t mean what you said.

  49. mystryman007, apparently you DON’T know home schooled children. In it’s early years, the home schooling program was much as you said. In the last several years, all sports and social programs at schools have been open to home schooled students. My neice, who attends private school and excels in several sports, has had several home schooled students on her teams. They play on the teams, travel with the teams, and participate in a lot of other school activities with them as well.

McCain has been an education advocate for years. The majority of his personal charitable donations every year goes to children’s education and charter schools – where children get the best education, by the way. You are way offbase on your assertion that he does not.

If I thought for one minute that “Palin was selected as a VP based soley on her being a woman” I would certainly be upset as well. But the facts show otherwise, try reading the facts, and not listening to rumors you get off Obama’s website and the Daily KOS. As to whether or not we can hide from our past, I don’t know. Obama seems to be doing a pretty good job of just that.

NYB, I will be really glad when an open debate between McCain and Obama can take place on energy and the economy. Maybe then people who will only watch to see Obama will finally here the truth from McCain and will wake up.

If we think the deficit is bad now, just elect Obama.

As I have stated before, the only way to make monetary sense of this country is to cut government spending. I have NOT yet seen a serious candidate make the argument that the government needs to be cut.

Actually, I’m a product of the very expensive Catholic education system.

And I hate to break this to you, but there are social misfits in schools too. I know of a lot of people that didn’t go Prom. I went to 6 (4 at my own high school and 2 at other high schools) proms. I don’t really think it made tremendous difference in my life that I participated in the high school debate team, was a cheerleader, and had a very social calendar during my school years. It certainly did NOT make me socially savvy.

Do your research. On the AVERAGE, homeschooled kids are much more socially diverse and exposed to a greater variety of people then those that participate in instutionalized learning systems. But that may be how the Right likes their people: institutionalized and conformists. So much for individualism and diversity. Instead of “we should all get along,” is the new mantra “we should all be carbon copies?”

I feel the Republicans are using “smoke and mirrors.” I like some of McCain’s stance on the issues; I like some of Obama’s stance on the issues. I wish people would vote intelligently, with their head, based on what is good for thier lives; and get away from personalities. Male, female, black, white what is in it for me? Is my son going to Iraq? How about the economy? Foreclosures? Gas prices?

  54. What’s wrong with you people. It seems that you base your information off of adds and speeches.

    DOES ANYBODY READ FACTCHECK.ORG?

Both candidates have a problem with the truth whether it is stretching it or outright lying. What’s more I do honestly believe that McCain chose Palin because she is a woman and he is hoping to catch all the feminist votes that went towards Hillary. And it’s working because people are too stupid to pay attention to the candidate stance on policy as oppose to paying attention to their gender or length of time in office. If you went with Hillary for her stance on policy then the next obvious choice would be Obama because, truth be told, they held similar views. The main difference was one was a white woman and the other a black man.

I hate politics becuase absolutly no one ever delivers entirely on their promise. It’s a dirty game and I’m tired of candidates firing at each other instead of dealing with the issues at hand. I’m still deciding whether or not to vote, but I can tell you it’s not looking good for McCain and if I don’t feel that Obama is going to deliver then I’m not going to vote for him. But just on character alone since I have been watching the path these candidates are taking to the White House I am more inclined to go with Obama beacause I don’t like the kind of old style punch’em in the guts politics the McCain side is using. It’s time for a new way to do things. Not saying Obama is 100% in the clear on that, but he hasn’t been half as bad as McCain.

And yes I am a woman.

  55. NYB,

How do you substantiate that a home schooled child is more diverse than an child that is in public or private school that has a variety of personalities, cultures, etc? That is makes absolutely no sense. The home schooled kids that I know and have been around do not have classmates, they have a parent teaching them. Are they getting a good education? Sure, I am sure that many do. I am in a pretty liberal area and I will say that the kids that I have met, basically fear other cultures and simply do not have an open mind of other cultures, instead you can see the stereotypes that their parents have taught them to believe about other people. Again this is only from my experience with about 20-30 home schooled kids, but maybe one in 10 seemed to be fairly outgoing and interested in other cultures.

Carbon Copies, that is the what I saw of the Home schooled kids, carbon copies of their parents. In public and many private schools I see free thinkers. People that make choices and are ready. You stated that you dont think your experiences cultivated your ability to communicate with others, that is simply not possible. When you share something in common with a stranger, that allows you to break the ice and build a rapport. Those are little things about life in the business world that can not be taught in the home per se. I just really feel that it is important for kids and people to interact as they grow up with people for a broad range of cultures.

Is the education system perfect, not at all. It definitely needs help.

I personally feel that Obama has better plan with regard to education, Economy, etc. The reality is that No matter who is in office, it wont mean much unless Congress is able to pass legislation that will benefit us all. Part of the Ebb and Flow of politics is balance and Bush has had 8 years to make something happen and he basically pulled the stop out of the drain and we are a sinking ship. GOP had control of Congress for 12 years until 2007 and it is time for Change.

    Obama ‘08

Note: I certainly do not mean to come across as a McCain/Palin Hater. I am not, I do not agree with the policies and stance of the GOP in General, although I have voted for GOP candidates locally before. The key is that we vote. It is extrememly frustrating for me to hear that people dont vote, “Oh I just don’t think my vote matters” That is unfortunate, and like many things the way we vote could be overhauled, but we really should take part. Vote and know why you are voting, not just because.

  56. Perhaps you are talking about the “first generation” homeschoolers. I also suggest that you do some homework on the true socialization of homeschoolers – you may want to start here: http://www.indiana.edu/~r.....s/d94.html

I know from my experiences with hundreds of homeschoolers, that there is tremendous diversity. The kids are not forced to sit in a classroom with only kids their own age. Instead, they have study groups that get together to work on specific projects and the kids in those groups are at various levels and age ranges as well as a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I think that about 10 years ago there was a huge shift in how kids were homeschooled because of the vast criticism that was received about how entrenched many of those kids were. That is why the current homeschoolers typically (at least from my person experience) seek to find and interact with a wide variety of people.

The homeschoolers that I know have their children participating in ballet, girl and boy scouts, church groups, taking kid classes at the local community college, playing on various sports teams, taking cooperative taught classes, taking art classes. In fact, I would venture to say that most of the homeschooled children spend MORE TIME socializing with children then the kids in traditional school do. The children in traditional school are frequently limited to the kids in their class and may be one or two extracurricular classes, IF their parents can squeeze it into their schedule. Whereas, the average homeschool child attends at minimum one class with other kids and 4 or more extra curricular programs.

So where exactly are those social skills of the traditionally educated child being played out? On the playground?? Where bullies threaten and manipulate the children??? In the classroom when they are supposed to be focused on learning? How exactly is it that these kids are truly being socialized? They aren’t.

And each one of those childrens is being taught to their individual strength – not to some randomly decided median point.

From what I see and encounter of traditionally educated students – they are very limited in their social actions – quick to label other kids. They are mean and in an environment that does not promote a high level of education, but one in which the strongest, meanest, and most violent survive. The kids with any sort of intelligence are mocked and, frequently, bullied. Schools provide special training on how to deal with bullies – you don’t have that in the homeschool community. My local elementary school has panic drills and lock down drills on a weekly basis – and we are in a very low crime, middle class community. Our local middle school offers free to parents test kits so that parents can drug test their children randomly from home. These are kids that are 10 -13 years old!!

Freethinkers! I don’t think so. Kids aren’t allowed to discuss their religions or any philosophy that is outside “approved” curriculum. There is no room in the classroom for true diversity. Instead, they try to teach that everybody is equal and the same. They don’t teach the truth that some people are NOT treated well because of their race or beliefs. They don’t teach or even allow discussion that life is unfair, that there really are winners and losers. They have been focusing so much on building “self-esteem” that the schools are actually turning out kids with lower self-esteem than ever before.

Regardless, parents should have the freedom to choose and Obama wants to remove that choice. I prefer to vote for the candidate that is going to enhance my individual freedoms rather than limiting them. Obama wants to take away our individual ability to decide about education, healthcare, retirement, how our taxes should be spent, and how and when we should offer assistance and how that assistance should be packaged for those in need.

I’m NOT saying that McCain is the best thing since sliced bread – I just believe that he holds our personal freedoms in a higher regard than Obama does.

Either way, I’m not really happy with the choices that are available. My candidate didn’t make it very far.

  57. My interactions have been with kids over the last 2-3 years. Ages from 8-12. The very strange thing to me is the age/grade. Every one of the kids I volunteered with were at least 1 year older than public kids. The worst was a kids that will graduate theoretically when he is 20. He would be 19 until the last month of school. I was young for my year. I graduated when I was 17. I Turned 18 a few months after I graduated. If there were kids that were older, it was because they were held back.

“So where exactly are those social skills of the traditionally educated child being played out? On the playground?? Where bullies threaten and manipulate the children??? In the classroom when they are supposed to be focused on learning? How exactly is it that these kids are truly being socialized? They aren’t.” You make my point exactly, they are prepared for the real world. Life is not easy, people are callous and may say somethings that hurt your feelings and you have to be able to deal with this. Life is not all puppy dogs and rainbows. You do not get to live within a box. What are you presenting is the belief that All home schooled kids are kind, gentle and have all the qualities that a child should have. All none home schooled kids are mean, bullies and should feared” Based on what you see on TV and videos on YouTube, public schools would seem scary as hell. The bottom line for me is balance. Parents have to be involved to a point of making sure they are talking to their kids about choices. Talking to there kids about their homework and being there for them. Giving them the tools necessary to be successful. Part of that balance is diversity in backgrounds including public, private and home schooled kids. I had said that business interactions can have faster rapport built when you have a common interest, but likewise if a person were homeschooled, perhaps that would spark a conversation on how you liked that etc.

One thing that is very exciting to me, is the number of people getting involved and paying more attention to politics in general. Sorry to hear your first choice in not in the running anymore. What I hate is that we really are only able to vote for one of two parties. Not to say you could not vote for a third, but we are basically a two party system and one of those two wins, no other choice.

I went to both public school 90% of my schooling and graduated from private religeous school. In the same vein, when we went to a play basketball against a public inner city school, it was like we were in another country. My teammates were locking the doors on our vans and closing the windows and not making eye contact. I was laughing my backside off because I grew up traveling and playing sports or other events in the same, but larger environments. I can guarentee you I was far more prepared for dealing with real-world issue than any one of the private school system kids.

I think one thing you and I can agree on and we have said this previously is that the school system today with NCLB is a joke. The system needs to be overhauled.

  58. Well, I certainly hope that when my children are grown adults, the work place will NOT be anything like the playground. I know so many kids that went from being a big fish in a little pond to being a little fish in a big pond and had an exceptionally difficult time adjusting.

Also, those that were bullies and dominating on the playground frequently have difficulty in the workplace since they are so not accustomed to getting their own way and resort to bullying tactics, which do not hold well in the work place. What children DON’T learn in school is cooperative interaction, social mores, and the ability to act appropriately with adults. I believe that is why we are having such difficulties with the new generation that is coming into the work place. I can’t tell you how many young people I have hired and had to let go because of their incredibly poor social skills and complete lack of work ethics. I believe that is directly related to the school environment.

Add into the equasion the vast number of teens that are simply dropping out of school due to apathy about receiving an education, and we are looking at a complete generation of ill-prepared social misfits. Children who only know how to related through verbal and physical abuse.

All children <> including homeschooled children experience bullying. I believe one of the differences in how it is handled is that homeschooled children are lectured, taught, and drilled that the behavior is completely and totally unacceptable. The traditional school system does not have the resources to provide that sort of guidance and direction to children.

But again, I will refer to the EXPERTS who have actually done studies on the social skills of homeschooled children and will not rely on my personal experiences. http://www.indiana.edu/~r.....s/d94.html

I, too, am very excited about the number of people that are showing an interest in this election. I firmly believe that all Americans have an obligation to be educated and to vote on the issues at hand – to the best of their ability. It is one of our greatest gifts in this Republic to be able to voice our opinions and to vote accordingly. We may not get what we want, but at least we have an opportunity to voice our opinion.

  60. It’s amazing to me how American voters are so easily distracted by personality and image. I’m very discouraged when I read blogs like this. Everyone seems to be looking for an easy answer. Everyone seems to like the convenient labels like “liberal” or “conservative”. People think they have the “facts” and nobody else has them. Some of these debates should be simple, but there are too many people who like to twist the “facts” and statistics to meet their agenda.

Take oil for example. The USA has 3% of worldwide oil reserves, but we use 25% of oil production. Some people claim those numbers are wrong, but it should be possible to verify the numbers. In the end, if the numbers are 3 and 25, or 5 and 20, or whatever, it’s all the same. The USA cannot become energy independent if we rely on oil. Alaska or Texas could be energy independent by themselves using just oil, but not the entire USA.

How about the inheritance tax or the “death tax” as Republicans have called it. People don’t realize that there is a minimum. In 2009, you’ll be able to pass down $9M without hitting the “death tax”. That’s pretty darn high. Isn’t that high enough? How many of us will have that much to hand-down to our kids? Warren Buffett said you should leave your children enough to do anything, but not so much they’ll do nothing.

Of course with all of these things, someone will find a way to spin it a certain direction and obscure the fact that the rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer and the rest of us are stuck in the middle.

    Report Comment

  61. How about we don’t take oil as an example? There are more than 6,000 common, every day items that are used that are made from petroleum – including plastics, tape, brushes, clothing, vinyl, make-up, cell phones, candles, gloves, deodorant, petroleum jelly (as a base for a lot of topical medicines), soap, and the list goes on and on and on.

As far as the rich getting richer, how about somebody stop the corruption in government?

I don’t think either candidate is good for that. Obama has taken more ear marks and pork in his incredibly short stint in Washington then McCain has in his entire career – but that doesn’t exactly make McCain all clean and shiny either.

The person with the best actual action experience taken against corporations and the oil industry, as scary as this is, is Palin. Of course, that wasn’t until AFTER she was on the short end of their political power stick during her stint as Commissioner.

The only way for things to get better is to put the criminals in jail and let the fair market actually work itself out with strict punishment for criminal behavior – those that attempt to defraud, rob, and mislead and any other action that can separate a fool from his money.

  63. Have you noticed that the problems are a direct result of programs instituted by the Democrats? Specifically the push for the Community Redevelopment Act which led directly to the reduction of standards on loans which then led to a lending frenzy. Had Clinton not demanded loans for those that are not credit worthy and then opened the door for greedy b******* to take advantage of that situation, we would not be in this situation.

If anything both parties need a complete overhaul of their economic philosophy. I am concerned that any government bail-out will postpose and make worse a hitting of rock bottom. I wouldn’t be suprised if we see the stock market drop by 20% in the next month. Regardless of who is in office, the government needs to ensure that we are protected from programs like those that Clinton implemented and demand honest and trustworthy transactions from all businesses and those with whom they do business.

Regardless of who is in power, the entire world is seeing a severe economic downturn, and it will take time to work itself out. We are going to be in for a very rough economic period that government bail outs aren’t going to save us from. Government intervention will PREVENT a true economic recovery and any intervention will increase our dependence on the government. What we truly need is greater government OVERSIGHT of businesses and Wall Street, but not a government TAKEOVER of those businesses.

McCain has CLEARLY stated the greater oversight is needed for business even though he would prefer that businesses did not need the oversight. While he would hope that businesses would be above board, he knows that they aren’t and is willing to do something about it – unlike Bush and Obama.

ALL politians reguardless of party are responsible for this mess. Think about this. When the goverment was set up people were elected to represemt the people in their areas. They were farmers doctors and so forth. When is the last time you have seen a farmer in office? The problem is the politians make the rules and they protect themselves pay themselves with the money they take from me in taxes and deceide when they get a raise. The only way to change the system would be to revolt put ordinary people in charge to make the new rules but again would the power go to their heads and it would start all over again. It will always be an unending circle so reguardless of party they all have issues. If you think either one is going to work miricles think again because anything they want to do will change as soon as they get elected- then it will be about how to set themselves up for the rest of their lives. So when you go to the polls just realise that no matter who you vote for they will let you down. If you are expecting them to make your life better understand only you can do that. When I vote I will be voting for McCain for one reason only he has worked with dems and repub and crossed party lines in the past and that is the biggest issue, If you cant work with the other party NOTHING happens. I need a candidate who has old school family values of take care of home before you take care of anyone else. Who is not the scrawny red and white pants wearing version of Uncle Sam, but the He-Man ready to defend [not bully] version of Uncle Sam. The nation is hurting right now, and everyone is feeling it. And not matter who makes it into office we are still going to be feeling it for quite sometimes. But we as Americans cannot turn our backs on the government during good times thinking that things are just going to continue going in the right direction. Before you know it, someone will get into office and feed the greed right out of your pockets. Let this be a lesson learned to all [it sure is one to me]. This is our home, our government, our futures, and we determine what happens next. Stop pointing fingers, it’s very American now to point blame elsewhere and not take responsiblities ourselves, and that’s a crying shame. Red against blue, Rich, against poor, middle-class against everyone else. We all want the same thing, even ground, a way to revive the American dream, and a government that will put its people first. Obama might not be the first pick, but he’s a pick and McCain…well he’s not someone I can trust with my future. He’s no different than any other president we have had in the past. And I can’t trust my future to the past. All great nations fall and so will America if we don’t CHANGE its current course. And just as a side note we are being watched and others are waiting for the “fall” to take place. WE, THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATE, CAN’T LET THAT HAPPEN.

But after watching tonights debate, I can not let that effect my decision on who really would be best to lead this great nation. While I applaud John McCains public service, it is VERY apparent that he is not only too old for the job, but he lacks the intelligence of Obama, he lacks a real plan, and he lacks the enthusiam and drive that this country needs in these hard times. Unless McCain shows me something in the next debates, I will vote for Obama.

One more point I hope most of you do your own research on the politicians and don’t rely on the mainstream media to tell you what is or isn’t true..they are mostly liberals and already have their minds made up. Well maybe not… the dems own the unions…. which own the schools.. i guess that makes sense huh? so now we are past why our education sucks lets move on too the economy shall we? First i like how people just blame bush, when the pres cant do much of anything without consent of congress(also democrat) so therefore the clash makes it nearly impossible to get anything done…. and people seem to forget that we have had the lowest unemployment in over 20 years(how is that for bad policy) and our GDP was doing very well too. Now consider all this with a multi billion dollar war going on. hmm some how that almost seems like a miracle. i will not completely defend the either party with the problems of late, the economic crisis has people to blame in both parties but mostly wallstreet. i think that a big part is the democrats who said fanny and mae were perfectly fine!!! a little misleading dont you think? now obama vs mccain. well its pretty simple… taxes vs less taxes. no drilling vs drilling. in economic hardship, you dont tax the wealth or the big companies… ya lets tax the companies so they have to jack up there prices and make it harder for the middle and lower class( and starving broke in debt college students like myself) who do you think employees the middle class… the big companies do… dont you see that the rich need to be free to invest and try to grow there money because the funny thing is that greed helps everyone by them trying to get more money they spend it first helping us!!! it is very simple for economic reasons.. for the war.. you have to go Mccain…

plz dont give me the spelling or grammer crap.. its 12:30 and i am tired and have a midterm tomorrow, or today actually I hope that in the very very near future people actually look up facts, thats how i vote. good night and god bless this greatest nation on this green earth! : )

  91. Hey,

I noticed you say you look up facts. I’m a student too. Independent. My problem when you say,”…in economic hardship, you dont tax the wealth or the big companies… ya lets tax the companies so they have to jack up there prices and make it harder for the middle and lower class( and starving broke in debt college students like myself) who do you think employees the middle class… the big companies do… dont you see that the rich need to be free to invest and try to grow there money because the funny thing is that greed helps everyone by them trying to get more money they spend it first helping us!!!”

I have to disagree. Go to the Tax Policy Center and take a look at each candidate’s tax plan. You say you’re a student, yet you are likely to vote for a tax plan that will favor the rich. If you hold corporations and wealthy individuals closer to your heart than you hold 90% of Americans, then vote McCain. The rich will always get richer. A tax hike for the rich after 8 years of loop holes and tax cuts for them is simply fair. I don’t agree with Clinton on many issues, but we did have a surplus while he was President. The last several Republican presidents have done the same thing, which is squander our money and create debt. That causes economic issues. My point here, is if you vote for McCain, you vote to keep the economic structure where it is, which in turn will not do anything to boost our economy. FACT from the non-partisan Tax Policy Center: John McCain is cutting taxes for people with incomes up to $66K on average by .47% which is very little. Barack Obama is cutting taxes for those same people on average by 3.83%. That’s an 8 fold difference for 60% of the population. If you’re broke and support more money for people and corporations who make too much already, then there is nothing else I can say to make you see my point. You and I might be fundamentally different, that’s all. If that is so, I respect your position and won’t seek to change it.

    Peace

PS. What I quoted above is based on information analyzed by the non-partisan Tax Policy Center.

  93. The rancor between the Republicans and the Democrats is unsettling. I believe a continued downward spiral for the next 4 years will have consequences for generations to come. We have to put ideologies and personalities aside. We can’t afford to decide on reflex: “I always vote Democratic” or “These liberals are to blame.” If we don’t think this through and put bias aside, we will all go under. Republicans are your neighbors, families, and friends. Try to see why. Democrats are your neighbors, families, and friends. There is a reason for their point of view. Maybe they have a point. Maybe the Republicans are right on some things. We are spending energy on this division, and missing the real issues. It is “We the People”; not “We the Democrats” or “We the Republicans.”

http://www.ontheissues.org -> again, a nonprofit, nonpartisan website that shows in depth coverage of the candidates (state and nationwide) verbal stance and voting record on the issues most important to you.

Look at BOTH candidates. In fact, I challenge you to look at the OPPOSITE candidate with whom you don’t agree and see where your views coincide. Check your own candidate and see how they’ve twisted “truth” during the debates.

Ayers is one of his biggest campaign contributors. Not only did Ayers bomb the pentagon when Hussein was 8, Hussein Obama accepted all his campaign funds and still consoles him on his political strategy. Hussein Obama is a threat to this country, a sleeper. This is very serious.

He often took way to long to answer his questions but made sure to get the point across. McCain did a lot of preaching. He repeated himself many times and often did not even answer the question but simply changed the subject to get in his two cents. To sum it up. Obama’s policies really are a big change from what we are used to and if that is what you want then vote for him. McCain’s policy is a reform of the Bush policy and does bring some change but only to try to tweak on many of the existing policies. My vote is for Obama. He is a thinker. I wached him look at and study McCain as he paced the floor and I could see that he was breaking him down and not letting himself be drug down but instead pondering about what his next move would be. I think that as president he would be much the same. He would be cool, and calm, and not rush off to war, but would use the resources necessary to prevent war and only then with the right information would he go to war. He is presidential material, and i believe McCain is not.

Are you aware of the vetting process? Before someone can run in an election, and everytime his name is on a ballot, the candidate is vetted. Congress sends a high priority request to every government agency in the country (FBI, CIA, Secret Service, EPA, …). They are required to disclose all the information that they have on the candidate. It is signed off at the highest level. Then there is the background investigation. They talk to neighbors, bosses, enemies, friends; and go all the way back. Every minute of a candidate’s life is accounted for. The scrutiny is unbearable. And believe me after 911, things have tightened. If Obama is a terrorist, then a lot of people will be fired, disgraced, and going to jail.

  108. First, I must say I find it really annoying that the “voice of reason” keeps coming in to criticize all of the ignorance in the comments, pointing out spelling and grammar errors but then they themselves make errors such as spelling grammar as “grammer” or saying “there is so many ignorant people” (ahem, instead of “are” so many people). Come on now, really! I too am bothered by these errors, especially when they are coming from people who purport to be educated experts, but if you are going to indulge yourself by going off-topic and criticizing others for spelling and grammar, at least do your own spell-check and grammar check as well, or else just put the computer down and read a good book. It’s fine to have a few spelling errors and grammar errors here. After all, we can only expect so much from our failing educational systems, and to be fair, some people just don’t care about correct spelling and if it works for them that’s fine. But if you are going to portray yourself as superior in your political punditry (or really it should probably be “panditry”) or you are going to criticize others for their spelling errors, at least make sure that you have some solid ground to stand on.

There! Now that I’ve said that…

I must say it is good to see that folks are not buying this McCain-Palin ticket, at least relative to the last two elections. I remember in 2000 how I was so happy that even though my Bill Bradley couldn’t stay in the race, at least the best that republicans could come up with was this idiot bully “frat” boy (sorry, it’s a stereotype, some fraternities and brothers are certainly better than GW, but the stereotype fits him so well)… there was no way that this guy could get voted in… everything out of his mouth was ever more assuring that he would never end up in office.

If I only knew then how much of a wake-up call I was in for about the level of ignorance, bigotry and delusion that runs rampant in the US. I knew there was a lot, but couldn’t imagine anywhere close to 50% would vote for GW… never mind twice, and after such major screw-ups.

Okay I could certainly go on and on, but back to my point, when I saw that McCain (and worse, Palin) were on the ticket and for a while were actually doing pretty well, I became dumbfounded. How people can really fall for the nonsense and idiocy coming from McPalin, well it is mind-boggling.

So I am cautiously optimistic when I see the consistent lead that Obama has over McPalin, and when I see that the public has no tolerance for the bigotry and ignorance that the republicans continue to demonstrate. Dare I hope that perhaps the silver lining of the last 8 years is that a few million more people have woken up? Maybe that would make the last 8 years seem almost worth it. Almost.

Okay, okay, not the most coherent comment. So sue me.

  109. I am a Republican. There are two Republican parties. There is the party of the regular people (people in Ohio, Tennessee, Montana, all over). We go to work, raise our families, and we are fiscally responsible. Then there is the other Republican party. They are extremely wealthy. They believe government should have no regulations and leave them alone (except to bail them out). They come across charming and down home at election time (George Bush went to Nascar). I think they have contempt for us and think that we are stupid. I love America. McCain said in the debate something about class warfare. He kept talking about businesses and people who make more than $250K. That does not include me. I am joining the growing list of Republican conservatives and voting for Obama. Also, I don’t like all this divisiveness and anger between the two parties. The other countries in the world don’t like us. We are all we have.

    Report Comment

  110. Observer,

Maybe there are 3 republican parties the third being the Religious Right — arguably the most dangerous force in our country, and certainly a major cause of the increased divisiveness. It is very dangerous to claim piety in such a grand and exclusive way, especially when you are a leader of the free world. Not to mention actually believing that you are on a mission from God. I really think we need a return to separation of Church and State. Didn’t Christ Himself say that prayer and worship are meant to be private? Over the last 8 years it has now become the case that politicians need to give a periodical shout-out to Jesus in order to get anywhere; that’s how big the Evangelical movement is in the USA. It’s enough already. Really.

    Report Comment

  114. First of all, is there a chance for argument sake, yeah I guess it’s possible. At the same time I don’t believe that’s what the senate does, these people are law makers. I don’t think that Senator Grassley being a ranking member of tax-writing Finance Committee is going to use his position deliver a bias report just to oppose Senator Obama .It is Senator Grassley’s job to review and analyze tax laws proposals and other finance & tax related items. He states in a number of his speeches they need to keep the candidates from promising more than they can deliver. Also the information he used was also reviewed by the NTU “National Taxpayer Union”, Small Business Administration and others. So, knowing that it is the job of the senator to review these tax propositions and that he is using bi-partisan information in order to come to his conclusion. I have a hard time believing that a ranking senator of the tax-writing Finance Committee would abuse his position to dish out a bias review. Again, listen to his speeches if you don’t want to believe the material it’s your choice. I know it’s a lot of material, can be rather long and dry. It is also very informative and I believe its honest information. There are other senators that I look up to like Senator Dorgan. He is a democrat and is a man that cares about his country, if he was running for president I would vote for him. I spend hours going thru this information every day to keep myself up to date with the people that make our laws and decide what’s best for the American people. I am an independent voter; I dislike siding with party politics. What I care about as a patriot and a veteran is; what is better for my country. If our country would not have the financial problems it has at the moment I could take the chance of voting the other way. But, that’s not the case, our economy is fragile right now the last thing we need is for something to affect a large chunk of the country’s companies and job machines.

I hope that all you Obama supporters know waht “snowed” means b/c you are snowed if you believe this man knows anything about running a country.I could write a speach and make it sound good. He’s a lawyer. He gets paid for that!If you want to pay taxes and have them be used as a handout to those who don’t pay, don’t have jobs, and don’t care to do so,then vote for Obama.I’m sure he and his terrorist friends would appreciate that!God bless all of you.We will definitely need all of His help if Obama is elected.I hope all of you will use your heads and see past all the pretty speaches!I would also like for everyone to read Revelations and see what you think…maybe you will second guess your decision!May the man of God win!

  120. What puzzles me is fact that this election is this close. Over 40% of this country still thinks that the direction and party is capable of changing. Don’t you remember when ( Bush ) preached that he goes beyond party lines, will bring us together?, Are you kidding? The only thing he has done is show how gullible US citizens are. The republican party says thats ( Obama wants to spead the wealth ) what the *&%& do you think has been going on since Reagan. Trickle Down wealth. The only thing I have seen is a separation of wealth. Greed dominates everything. We need a new mindset in politics. Obama is the youngest and freshist face when have seen in a long time. Hey if his policies don’t work, we have 4 years to think about a change. My guess is that he will pave a new path for this country.

  121. How can Obama supporters vote for a candidate who will not even pledge allegiance to the flag of the country in which they live?

  122. I used to like Mccain before he sold out to corporate america to get the Republican nomination. He used to be a voice of reason who always seemed to be fighting the good fight. He seems now to be a changed man. I feel bad for him really. He’s up against perhaps the most charasmatic, great speakers of our time. When it comes down to it isn’t that what the President needs to do for us? He needs to Lead. He won’t be creating the legislation that he pushes. That’s up to congress. All he can do is try to put forward his best ideas and see what congress does with them. As for being Commander in chief, Isn’t it time that we had someone commanding the armed forces using his brain rather than his balls or his nose…(do i smell oil???) Anyone with half a brain can do it… heck bush only has bout a quarter brain. But Obama is one of the Greatest intellects of our time and he can LEAD. He has inspired so many people across this country. I certainly never thought i could be so ecstatic to support a presidential nominee. I hope that after he’s elected (and he will be) the republicans will be able to suck it up and be gracious in their defeat. After all us democrats were gracious even when Bush used some foul tactics to steal the white house unethically and perhaps illegally. If the right could just open their minds a bit and listen to his message they might have hope too….rather than the fear that Mccain and Palin would have them feel.

  123. Is the country so hopelessly divided that we can’t see when someone is throwing us a rope? We are going down for the third time. If Obama is defeated in four years I shutter to think what will happen to the middle class. I want things to get better, not stay the same.

    Report Comment

  124. Then you’d better vote for McCain, observer, because Obama’s energy policy is 30 years old, and his economic policy is Jimmy Carter’s. You want things to go forward? You’d better vote for McCain and Palin.

  125. How can you vote for a candiate that during his party nomination for the presedency admits to had supported his president 90% of the time more than other candidates from his own party?, then later on refuses to be associated with the president he supported due to the “disastrous economic polices” of its own political party .
Why Mcain uses his participation in the vietnan war as poitical tool to justify the erroneus US polices on Iran and Irac? (weapons of mass destruction instead of Osama Binladen)
Yes, I understand that we all are wondering who rally is the best candidate to be our president but one thing I have to say is that we should be happy for the opportunity we have in this country to be heard and to have the freedon to elect someone else from other political party. “FREEDOM” Why will I vote for the political party that had destroyed the reputation of the US around the world and the economic stability of so many hard working people like you in this country? I wonder why the Republicans lost control of the house and senate after the first 4 years of President Bush? Please use common sense on your decisions and vote.

  126. I have already made up my mind. I believe that Obama and Biden are more competent and qualified than McCain and Palin. Also, I believe that they are less beholden to CEOs and big business than McCain. The government buying into banks and the Wall Street bailout influenced me a lot. You vote your conscience and I will vote mine. Let us agree to disagree.

    Report Comment

  127. Agreed, observer. And I believe that Obama will tax us all, just as Clinton promised tax cuts, then raised them. I don’t understand why anyone would believe Obama will cut your taxes. He also said he would take campaign financing, and then reniged on that promise. That makes me believe he will renig on all of them. But I do agree to disagree with you.

  128. You are so way off. Do you honestly believe that McCain/Palin is a better ticket than OBama/Biden. You have to ask yourself. Who is more intelligent, Fresh, and will address the world better. McCain is an old man with poor judgement. His only claim to fame is his service in war. His own party doesn’t back him. If we were to somehow elect him, the world would laugh at our nation. We would continue down this downward spiral. Anyone who supports him, must be well off as to be blinded by ones own wealth and not see the distruction happening all around you. In 6 days, we wil know,…..May god help us all if McCain Wins…

  129. McCain is soo old that he will soon be blind…imaagine a Palin takeover guys!!!
Babs yes you’re right, he promised to take public funding and he broke that…just as McCain promised to run a decent campaign and stick to the matters that matters most to the American people…now checkout his tv ads and campaign!!
he also promised to cut spending but spend $150,000 in 2 weeks on palin.

the only average frend McCain ever had is joe the plumber. all his frends are ceo, the man doesnt even know how many houses he got whilst the average american works to keep the lights on. so if you think he knows how you feel, can fir in your shoe, and care about you, and is in touch with you then you really need a reality check. and that goes for all those that support McCain.
Having said that im not gona vote for McCain specifically coz hes short. how come all short presidents are troublesome?? Mugabe, Kim Jon II, G. Bush, and now you guys expect me to vote for McCain?? are you outta ur mind?? go figure…

  130. That’s a very intelligent reason to vote for Obama, NiceKing – he’s tall. I heard a caller on the Rick & Bubba radio program yesterday say he was voting for Obama because John McCain believed the Sabbath was on Sunday, and he believes it’s on Saturday. And he was serious. Never mind Obama attends church on Sunday, as well.

I think the true intelligence level of some voters are coming out now.

  131. yup. thanks for your ack’ment. all the short ones are troublesome and empty headed. when we said change what did you think we had in mind Babs??? we were onto a complete package change. the skin colour, the height, the ideas, ploicies, tax code, hair colour (white = very very old, black = very yound). so yes… you gotta vote obama. i hope he can count on ur vote. oh i 4got, u already wasted your vote! damn!

    Report Comment

  132. NiceKing you are harsh. I am voting for Obama, but McCain has some good qualities. In his previous campaign, he wasn’t negative and he really is a war hero. Ten years ago he had some good ideas. As for Sarah Palin, she has a lot of political acumen; she has an appeal; she is ambitious; and given time and mentoring, she could be okay. All the candidates have pluses and minuses (they have to, they are only human). All of us want to do the right thing for the country. We have to respect each other’s views even if we don’t agree with them. The only allies we really have are ourselves. The other countries are not our friends. I am American and proud.

I completely agree with you. I believe that offering handouts to everyone is a big mistake. It sends the message that there is no such thing as personal responsibility. I wasn’t brought up in a privileged family. I had to make my own way and pay for my own college education. Truthfully, I appreciate it more because I had to work so hard for it.

Why should people rely on taxpayers to support them instead of getting a job? I understand that some people can’t work, but those who can and choose to be lazy are a different issue altogether. Those of us who choose to be productive people shouldn’t have to pay for those that don’t.

Obama bets to win so i can have my election pary and so we can have a better country and a better place to live in stead of white people taking over we need a black, brave man to take over atleast one time and one time only. Why should we always depend on a white man to take over our nation and im a child so i want the best for my nation while im growing up and i still want a grat country with either a black or white president but all i have to say is GO BARACK OBAMA

  137. Kids trying to go to college today can’t always get loans (NOT GIFTS) without co-signers. Kids comming from the poor section of town, can’t get co-signers. That doesn’t make them lazy or unwilling to work for it. This doesn’t even consider the old guys in their mid fifties who worked their way up only to be abandoned by their companies and now no one wants to hire them because of their age. For some reason, many who are LUCKY enough to HAVE want to beat down those who don’t.
