For the first time, presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has taken the lead among the Republican field in a national poll.
The Rasmussen daily presidential tracking poll released Wednesday showed the former Arkansas governor with 20 percent, compared with Rudy Giuliani at 17 percent. Even though Huckabee and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney have played strong in early voting states like Iowa, Giuliani has led the field in practically every national poll since the race began.
I’d have to say it’s news to me…… who would have thought the Huckster had some fight left in his campaign at this point? I’d have to lend credit to the debates.
Update by Nate:
Perhaps a refresher on what a “Huckster” actually is:
huck·ster (hÅk’stÉ™r) pronunciation
1. One who sells wares or provisions in the street; a peddler or hawker.
2. One who uses aggressive, showy, and sometimes devious methods to promote or sell a product.
Some (Republicans who don’t like Huckabee) may argue that Huckabee is indeed the “Huckster” of the Republican candidates based on his record from Arkansas on taxes. That has become debatable though, Huckabee has done a good job of deflecting the criticism for the most part I think.
