CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – An unflinching John McCain was told Tuesday by New Hampshire high school students he might be too old to be president and too conservative to be respected.

McCain, the Arizona senator whose presidential bid has stumbled through the summer, countered the Concord High School students with humor.

“Thanks for the question, you little jerk,” McCain joked back to one student who asked the 71-year-old about his age. “You’re drafted.”

I think that’s a legitimate question. McCain is indeed getting elderly. Think about a year from now he’s 72, then 4 years in the White House, he’s 76! Then would he run again, he’d be 80!

As far as McCain being too conservative to be respected, what’s that kid smoking? The man has gotten in bed with Kennedy and other liberals like Feingold on measures which went the opposite of any kind of conservative agenda. McCain’s problem is that he’s thumbed conservatives throughout the past several years and early on in this campaign, especially over illegal immigration.
