The weekend to “come out”

Following the much hailed announcements of Obama and Clinton, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson also managed to slip a web video in there and announce his intentions to seek the 2008 nomination. Democrats have dominated the weekend with announcements which sort of drowned each other out. I personally think Hillary should have waited even just a week so she could have had a weekend to herself. I assume the strategy was to drop her announcement and sort of drown Obama. Richardson is going nowhere despite his experience.

We also had Republican Sam Brownback announce his intentions as well:

TOPEKA, Kan — Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., began a long-shot bid for president on Saturday, hoping his reputation as a favorite son of the religious right can help him outdistance better known rivals.

“My family and I are taking the first steps on the yellow brick road to the White House,” Brownback said, returning to his home state to declare his intention to seek his party’s nomination in 2008.

And finally, because I love embedding video:

Richardson’s video announcement

You can mute and just know that Richardson says “Barack and Hillary are political infants, vote for me!”
