Hot Air has it that Michael Steele will not be asked to head the RNC. Instead it will be Florida Senator Mel Martinez.
At the risk of editorializing, I believe this is an awful choice and was a case of affirmative action. Michael Steele was articulate and infinitely qualified to head this position. Mel Martinez is weak on immigration and will cost the Republicans more conservative votes. Especially if Jim Gilchrist is going to seek a nomination from the Constitution Party. I couldn’t be more disappointed by the news that Steele has been passed over for the position.

Addition: Michelle Malkin has some excellent analysis and reaction to the Martinez decision (Alternative words for decision could have included debacle, mistake, foolishness, etc..).
